Will You Always Have Good Water?
Sometimes, we’re just not in control!
Situations, circumstances, people, nature, are just a few things we can’t control…all the time. It’s hard to prepare for something when you don’t know what that something is. Pilots are taught from the beginning to always prepare for the worst and to constantly look for a place to land. Boy Scouts have the motto: “Be Prepared”.
As the owner of the Water Tree of Wimberley, this past week of record flooding in our community has once again brought to my attention the need to always “Be Prepared”. Many of our customers have lost everything…everything. Sometimes, no matter how much you prepare, you just can’t prevent things from happening that are beyond and unexpected. Many of our customers had plans for flooding, but not to the extreme experienced.
The community of Wimberley has stepped up it’s game to help those in need; we call it the “Wimberley Way”. In fact, there were around 350 families who lost their houses or needed a place to sleep, but only 3 families had to spend the night in a shelter. But, our community is not special, we see this happen in all communities hit with natural disasters. It’s what we ALL do when those around us are in need. Wimberley has experienced an outpouring of help from individuals, churches, communities, businesses and companies during this time and we are all very thankful.
As I’m sitting here in my store, writing this blog entry, I’m watching FEMA trucks, Red Cross, National Guard, Sheriff, State Troopers, Food trucks, Sanitary Waste trucks, van loads of volunteers, heavy duty machinery trucks, and more pass by plus listening to helicopters pass overhead. Wimberley was not prepared for this, and the disorganization is very evident in some places and not so in others.
Food, water and shelter, are the three basics that should be at the top of everyone’s “Be Prepared” list. Any Water Tree store or member of Dream Tree Family can help you with your need for good clean water. We have many options for times when water is compromised or non-existent, from hand-held to large systems. Water is a necessity.
None of us, of course, want to be in harms way such as a natural disaster, but it does happen. There’s no one to blame for loss of life or loss of property. It’s just something that we are not in control of, and it just happens. All we can do is try our best to be prepared and praise God always. Thank you so much for the emails, text messages and phone calls during this time.
Thanks, and God bless.
