What's Wrong With My Water?
When I first got into the water business I started reading all the material I could find on alkaline water and the benefits. What struck me as a key piece of information that I needed to pass on to everybody (hoping they would see it as important as I did) was that our bodies are approximately 70% water! To me, I saw that as an opportunity to be in control of what that 70% would now become. In other words, I was going to make sure that that 70% was the best water available!
Since you’re reading this article you are apparently concerned about the water you drink. It’s interesting to me that there are a lot of people who never consider the water coming out of their tap, well, or bottle might not be the best for their health. They assume water is water, no matter where you get it.
In our store, we do a few eye opening demonstrations to show people the difference between sources of water. For example, when you apply an electric current to water, the unseen dissolved matter in the water becomes visible. In other words, with an electric zap you can see the crap. This is an eye-opener because most believe if you can’t see it, it’s not there. In the picture is tap water on the left and filtered water on the right. With filtered water most of the “stuff” is removed and the water will stay pretty clear when a charge is applied. Tap water, on the other hand, because of the high number of total dissolved solids (TDS) will turn many colors, become murky and will get warm to the touch. At this point, I will usually ask if they’d like some ice with their tap water…I’ve only had one taker, a Marine, oorah!
When providing water for large populations, there has to be some kind of cleaning or disinfection process. There are just too many things that could go wrong with supplying water to the masses. In order to fight bacteria, viruses and other issues in the water, chemicals such as Chlorine, Chloramine, Fluoride and more need to be added. There’s a wide view on why this is being done to our water and it depends on who you talk to about this subject. Some think it’s a negligible amount and doesn’t harm the body, whereas, on the other side of this issue there are those who think it’s a way to control the masses by adding neurotoxins to the water. I’m not going to admit what I think about it here, but I do believe that any amount of a man-made chemical in my body is not a good thing. Recently, I heard an interesting story from a customer who had worked for the municipal water supply of a nearby city for many years. At one point in her career, she was asked to check on a small pump that was not working properly at one of the treatment facilities. This pump fed the large reservoirs of water a constant stream of the disinfectant chemicals. The pump had apparently lost pressure and was leaking the chemical on the concrete below, and as a result was eating away the concrete! As you can imagine, from that moment on, she has not had a drink of that water.
Recently, there has been a lot of “Boil Water” notices in various cities across the U.S. The biggest reason is because of all the rain and flooding in certain areas as the runoff water with all the bacteria, poop and more ends up in our wells and water supply. One way they combat this issue in the municipal water supply is to add more disinfectants. If you are fortunate to have a Water Tree close by or your own Reverse Osmosis (RO) system, your chance of getting sick from contaminated water is significantly reduced. Reverse Osmosis has a pore size of approximately .0001 micron, which means it is highly effective in removing protozoa, bacteria and viruses. See the CDC.gov website for more information and the chart below.
But, Reverse Osmosis water ends up being dead acidic water because the life has been removed. This process works so well to remove all the stuff from the water, it removes the good along with the bad. Although we love the RO process for it's ability to clean, we believe it's not the best for our health. In fact, since water has been discovered to have memory, and is constantly trying to return to a prior state, our bodies become a source of minerals when we drink this water. In other words, this water leeches minerals from our body.
The most ideal water to drink, in my opinion, is of course pure untampered source water...which is impossible to find nowadays. Water that has been purified of all contaminants, then rejuvenated with the minerals that should be there in the first place is my choice of water...which happens to be naturally made alkaline antioxidant water. So, if my body is 70% water, that's the water I want!
